Kazakh and Korean presidents discuss situation in Central Asia
Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has today held a meeting with South Korean counterpart Lee Myung Bak, who paid an official visit to Kazakhstan, the Kazakh Embassy in Korea said today, CA-NEWS reported.
According to the report, this is the fifth meeting between the two countries for the last 3 years.
More than 300 joint ventures successfully operate in Kazakhstan. The total amount of South Korean investments is about $ 4 billion.
During the talks, Nazarbayev and Lee Myung Bak have discussed the situation on the Korean Peninsula and in Central Asia. They focused on the issues of nuclear disarmament and overcoming the consequences of the global financial and economic crisis.
The documents for constructing the Balkhash thermal power station, financing the second phase of the gas-chemical complex construction in Atyrau region, as well as creating a joint Kazakh-Korean Technological Cooperation Center were signed within the Korean president’s visit.
