Gross grain harvest in Kazakhstan expected to reach 14 million tons

The gross grain harvest in Kazakhstan is forecast at 14 million tons at an average yield of 8.7 tons per hectare (kg / ha) due to dry weather, the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan said on Tuesday.
In the northern regional areas of Akmola, Kostanai, Pavlodar and North Kazakhstan, the gross grain harvest is forecast at 11.4 million tons at an average yield of 8.7 tons / hectares. In the western, central and eastern regions (Aktobe, West Kazakhstan, Karaganda, East Kazakhstan) – 1.4 million tons with an average yield at 6.3 t / ha and the southern region – 1.2 million tons at a productivity level of 13.2 t / ha.
According to the report, the current areas of agricultural enterprises of the western and southern regions have begun to harvest.
As of July 13 this year, 122.4 thousand ha of crops are being harvested and 120.3 thousand tons of grain with a yield at 9.8 t / ha is threshed.
According to the Republic of Kazakhstan Agency for Statistics and JSC Kazakhstan Railways 12.1 million tons of grain were shipped as exports between July 2011 to June 30, 2012, which is 2.2 times more compared to the 2010-2011 marketing year level, including in the form of grain – 8.4 million tons and as flour – 2.6 million tons. The average monthly shipments of grain for export (including flour in grain equivalent) amounted to more than one million tons.
Some 157.8 thousand tons of grain and 47.2 thousand tons of flour were shipped for export in early July 2012.
